Job summary

Flatiron Construction Corp. is seeking a Construction Engineer to draft and analyze temporary works designs, ensuring constructability with contract documents and regulatory requirements.

The role focuses on the “how” of constructing the work within the Construction Engineering Group. You will draft plans for temporary works, ensure accuracy with standards, and submit designs for peer review to avoid delays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural or related Engineering field required.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI) preferred.
• Internal Training Crane level I and II preferred.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, RIZA suite, LARSA and MathCAD is a plus.
• Knowledge and skill in technical writing for clear and efficient communication and understanding.
• Knowledge and understanding of constructability and construction practices.
• Verbal, written and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical input on temporary works construction designs to ensure constructability and compliance to project contract specifications.
• Drafts design plans for temporary works (falsework, shoring, temporary bridges, formwork, slopes, etc.), ensuring completeness and accuracy with regulatory standards and within the contract specifications.
• Designs temporary construction elements ensuring ease of constructability, cost effectiveness with materials onsite or purchased, balancing optimization and feasibility of onsite project construction.
• Submits design for peer review or approval review in an accurate and timely manner to avoid construction delays on the project site.
