Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Construction Engineer to be based in New York, NY. You will support project delivery on major infrastructure programs, conducting walk-downs, inspections and quantity surveys to track progress and inventory.

The role requires a BA/BS with experience; preferred candidates bring program management oversight, knowledge of building codes and hazardous materials, and strong collaboration with contractors and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• BA/BS plus two years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Excellent interpersonal communications and collaboration skills.
• 10 years of project or program management oversight experience.
• Knowledge of procedures and regulations for removing hazardous materials such as lead‑based paint, mold and asbestos.
• Working knowledge of building codes, standards, and building structures.
• Experience in project scheduling, cost estimating.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine duties and apply sound professional judgment on construction projects.
• Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications.
• Independently perform walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Perform quantity surveys for tracking and reporting project progress and material inventory.
• Provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors on project-related tasks.
• Monitor compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and contractual requirements throughout all project phases.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure timely execution and resolution of construction-related issues.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including daily reports, inspection records, and correspondence for regulatory and administrative purposes.
• Assist in budget tracking, cost analysis, and change order management to support project financial controls.
• Participates in site meetings and provides progress updates to project management and client representatives.
