Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. is offering an Engineering Intern position in Hawaii. The internship provides hands-on experience aligned with a full-time construction engineering career, supporting active job sites and project teams.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings, assisting with schedules, takeoffs, and cost tracking, while maintaining project documentation and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Strong interest in and commitment to the construction industry.
• Willlingness to learn, adaptable, and open-minded.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communicator and team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
• Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Support administrative and field construction activities as assigned by the project team.
• Assist with reviewing proposals, specifications, and construction drawings.
• Perform material takeoffs and assist with cost estimates.
• Support subcontractor coordination and vendor communication.
• Learn to track costs, materials, and equipment usage.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking.
• Maintain accurate project records related to job progress, costs, and materials.
• Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
• Identify issues and assist in recommending solutions or alternatives.
• Follow and support all safety programs and site requirements.
