  • Coordinate completion of assigned systems and develop punch lists to facilitate system turnover.
  • Participate in system walkdowns and resolution of turnover deficiencies.

Job Description

Fluor is seeking a Construction Engineer III to support the execution of Nuclear Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects. This role provides technical support to construction management, craft personnel, and field supervision to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality requirements, and regulatory standards.

The Construction Engineer III will support planning, coordination, troubleshooting, installation, testing, and turnover activities across various project phases. The position works closely with engineering, procurement, quality, and construction teams to resolve field issues and drive successful project delivery.

This role supports Fluor's Nuclear Business Line headquartered in Houston, Texas, with opportunities to support multiple Nuclear EPC project locations throughout the United States. Travel, temporary assignment, or relocation to project sites may be required based on project and business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical construction support to craft labor, superintendents, and project management teams.
  • Evaluate and apply standard construction engineering methods, procedures, and practices using sound engineering judgment.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and work packages to support constructability and field execution.
  • Assist field personnel in resolving construction-related issues and discrepancies.
  • Coordinate construction activities with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and Project Controls teams.
  • Monitor work progress to ensure compliance with project requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Support installation, testing, turnover, commissioning, and startup readiness activities.
  • Coordinate completion of assigned systems and develop punch lists to facilitate system turnover.
  • Participate in system walkdowns and resolution of turnover deficiencies.
  • Supervise or coordinate the work of engineers, technicians, and other assigned personnel.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Job Requirements
  • Accredited four (4) year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline, or global equivalent.
  • Minimum six (6) years of related construction engineering experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, clients, contractors, vendors, and project teams.
  • Working knowledge of construction processes, engineering fundamentals, and project execution practices.
  • Ability to learn and apply applicable federal, state, local, and industry regulations.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced project environments.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate to project sites across the United States as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Experience supporting Nuclear EPC, power generation, DOE, DoD, or other highly regulated industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of nuclear quality standards, commissioning, startup, and system turnover processes.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or applicable industry certifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and construction management software.
  • Ability to read, write, or speak multiple languages is a plus.
Work Location

Primary alignment is with Fluor's Houston, Texas Nuclear Business Line, supporting Nuclear EPC projects and pursuits across multiple U.S. project locations. Work assignments may be office-based, site-based, or a combination of both depending on business and project requirements.
