Job summary

Chesapeake Contracting Group in Baltimore seeks a Construction Engineer to manage information to keep the project on time, within budget and to the quality specified by the contract documents. The Engineer reports to Project Managers.

You will liaise with architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and inspectors, oversee drawings and submittals, negotiate change orders and support close-out documentation.

Qualifications

• 1+ years commercial construction experience in roles like Intern, Field Engineer, Foreman or similar
• Familiarity with construction management software such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, Procore or equivalent
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience
• Experience with estimating and managing self-performed and subcontracted work
• Strong problem solving, prioritization and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex information clearly
• Must possess a valid driver's license to travel to job sites
• OSHA 30, First Aid & CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison with Architects, Subcontractors, Consultants, Suppliers, Inspectors and other partners to resolve issues related to plans and specifications
• Oversee and make decisions on contract drawings and subcontract information ensuring drawings relate to the estimate
• Manage submittals and shop drawings and resolve conflicts in interpretation
• Negotiate and request change orders; manage related changes and obtain/verify estimates from subcontractors
• Oversee close-out process; prepare final records (RFI's, close-out records, warranties, as-builts, O&M manuals) and ensure compliance with contract documents
• Prepare Scope of Work documents for trades and develop reports
• Schedule and attend meetings (trade coordination, preconstruction, submittal review)
