3M in Hutchinson, MN is seeking a Construction Electrician to join our manufacturing teams. You will build electrical panels, run conduit, install wiring and systems, and contribute to facility and production equipment upgrades.

This role requires reading blueprints, working with other PE groups, following NEC and 3M 80 standards, and the ability to work independently or in a team. A technical degree or Journeyman license is required, with potential overtime.

Qualifications

  • Must have a technical degree or diploma/certificate in mechanical craft related to this trade, or a Journeyman license recognized by Minnesota.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and symbols for this trade.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule and overtime as necessary.
  • Future certification for PIVs, respirators and aerial lifts may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Install and modify facilities and production equipment, including electrical, electronic, robotics, low voltage systems, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
  • Work with other PE groups to maintain the reliability of the plant and production equipment; assist engineering on upgrades and ordering parts.
  • Follow National Electrical Code and 3M Manual 80 Standards.
  • Be familiar with plant layout and equipment; maintain good customer relations and communication.
  • Work independently and as a team member; provide team support to internal customers.

  • Competitive pay starting at $44.63 can go up to $47.13

As a Construction Electrician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Build electrical panels, run conduit, wiring and install systems.
  • Installation and modification of facilities and production equipment, including: electrical, electronic, robotics, low voltage systems, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
  • Work with other PE groups to maintain the reliability of the plant and production equipment. Work with engineering on equipment & facility upgrades. This includes working from prints, working with outside vendors, determining supplies needed and ordering of parts.
  • Be aware of and follow the National Electrical Code & 3M Manual 80 Standards.
  • Must become familiar with plant layout and equipment.
  • Possess good customer relations and effective communication skills (including basic use of a PC).
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Provide team support to internal customers.
Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this 3M Production role, in compliance with U.S. labor and safety laws.

  • Must have courses and completion of a technical degree, diploma/certificate in mechanical craft(s) related to this trade (completed and verified prior to start). Or minimum Journeyman’s License issued by or recognized by the state of Minnesota
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and symbols for this trade.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule and overtime as necessary and after hour call-in.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Technical knowledge and practical application skills in the Construction Electrician trade or related disciplines.
  • Future certification for PIV’s, respirators and aerial lifts will be required.
