Job summary

3M Indianapolis is seeking a Comms Manufacturing Engineer to lead projects that improve process safety, quality and productivity on-site. You will drive continuous improvement, troubleshoot equipment and apply engineering methods across facilities.

Collaboration with lab, quality, and finance teams will be essential to deliver robust solutions. You will also support daily operations, maintain documentation, and advance capabilities on manufacturing equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in an Engineering field (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a private, public, government or military setting
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Identify, initiate, and lead projects to improve process safety, quality, service, cost, capacity, and productivity using engineering and continuous improvement methods
  • Improve capability on manufacturing equipment using standard work, tier reviews, and kaizens
  • Troubleshoot variation, perform root cause analysis, apply systematic problem-solving techniques, and implement sustainable solutions
  • Engage in daily operations to resolve equipment downtime, assure quality and productivity, and meet service targets
  • Create and maintain documentation including specifications, preventative maintenance, and change management
  • Establish an extensive network of support across laboratory, quality, financial, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing to help complete assignments
  • Communicate at all levels to drive direction and function as a technical resource within the group

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

Your Skills And Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in an Engineering field (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a private, public, government or military setting

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience within a manufacturing setting with demonstrated strength in engineering and mechanical problem solving.
  • Training and experience in continuous improvement methods, statistics, and designed experiments are beneficial; and Six Sigma are beneficial; Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated capability and knowledge of equipment reliability concepts and methods.
  • Experience managing and optimizing plant utilities.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience, teamwork, and communication skills.

Applicable to US Applicants Only: The expected compensation range for this position is $98,964 - $120,957, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
