Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Construction Director to lead strategic initiatives and drive profitable growth for the Construction/Design-Build division in the Atlanta area. You will direct a large team, shape client strategy, and oversee budget and resources to meet program goals.

Ideal candidates bring strong project management experience, a PE license preferred, and a proven record in client development, budgeting, and cross-functional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, business or related field; 13 years of relevant consulting experience required
• Expert experience in client and business development
• Expert experience in managing projects including proposal development, contract negotiations, planning, design coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination
• Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated success in budget, savings and/or profit margins on projects
• Ability to positively influence, lead and manage teams
• Excellent planning and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication, strong interpersonal skills, ability to present complex information to all levels
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including Microsoft Project or equivalents
• PE license preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage development and execution of Construction strategic business initiatives
• Provide direction and oversight of business development efforts
• Provide leadership to the Construction team and coordinate department resources
• Manage Construction business development activities
• Oversee development of department tools and workflows for design, specification, and project execution
• Direct oversight of Construction budget and expenditures
• Achieve targets for Construction financial performance
• Present monthly financial information to leadership
• Approve cross-selling strategies for engineering services
• Align Regional Office staff development, quality control and resource coordination
• Recruit, hire, develop, and retain employee-owners
• Conduct performance evaluations for department or direct reports
• Interpret policies and goals of the organization to Department Managers
• Adhere to Burns & McDonnell Quality Control program and safety policies
