Job summary

CU Boulder seeks an internal subject matter expert in construction cost estimating to empower planners, engineers and project managers with robust budgeting tools from early project stages.

The Estimator acts as a coach and contributor on large capital projects, delivering data-backed cost estimates and training to strengthen campus decision-making while partnering with PD&C across planning, design and construction.

Qualifications

• This role requires a construction cost estimating background with capital project experience.
• Strong ability to build and train teams in cost estimation processes.
• Ability to evaluate complex pricing, develop cost models, and communicate findings clearly.
• Experience with multiple delivery methods and ERP/estimating software is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert cost estimating for capital projects across stages.
• Lead training on estimating fundamentals and model use.
• Develop and maintain a cost database and estimation model.
• Support procurement and bid processes with independent cost reviews.
• Collaborate with campus partners on life cycle cost analyses.
