Job summary

University of Colorado Boulder seeks a Design and Construction Estimator to serve as the internal cost-estimating expert. You will develop a data-backed estimating model, build a comprehensive cost database, and train planners and project managers in preparing budgets from early development stages.

You will also lead market analysis, review contractor pricing, and prepare independent cost perspectives for award decisions on capital projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; field of study as listed.
• 6 years of experience in construction cost estimating on capital projects of $10M+.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine a data-backed estimating cost model for budgeting early in project development.
• Build and maintain a project cost database with historical data and current market prices.
• Design an estimating cost model for planners and project managers with clear documentation.
• Collect and integrate cost data from completed projects and contractor engagements.
• Develop detailed calculations with Campus Controller's Office for capitalization reports.
• Lead department-wide training on estimating fundamentals and cost evaluation.
• Deliver curricula to help planners and PMs use the cost model independently.
• Facilitate training on evaluating SOVs, GMPs, design-build bids, and change orders.
• Coach PMs on reviewing contractor proposals and pricing deliverables.
• Provide expert-level Class 5 and Class 4 estimates for capital and deferred maintenance projects.
• Develop Life Cycle Cost Analyses as requested.
• Maintain relationships with regional contractors and keep PD&C informed of market conditions.
