Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Cost Control Manager to lead planning, budgeting and cost control across construction projects. You will forecast costs, monitor variances, and maintain CBS and cost control procedures, while coordinating with project teams to improve cost efficiency.

You will prepare periodic cost reports, review subcontractor payments, and support cost optimization initiatives across project lifecycles, ensuring audits and closeouts are well-documented.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years in cost control or project controls in construction.
• Experience managing costs for large-scale construction projects.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project budgets and cost control procedures.
• Monitor actual costs vs budgets and identify variances.
• Prepare cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and earned value analyses.
• Review subcontractor payments and progress claims.
• Coordinate with planning/scheduling teams to align cost data with schedules.
• Track expenditures, commitments, and change orders.
• Provide cost advice to project management and leadership.
• Participate in value engineering and cost optimization initiatives.
• Support contract administration and claims analysis.
