Job summary

TC Energy is seeking a disciplined construction planner to develop short and long-term schedules, provide cost estimates from design reviews, and coordinate with Project Management to define construction requirements. You will manage project financials, PO maintenance, invoicing, and forecasting while coordinating with regional field planners for outages and operations support.

The role requires travel to field locations, supporting external vendors, and coordinating with construction crews.

Qualifications

• Technical school graduation, Associate’s degree, or equivalent.
• 5 years of pipeline or related construction experience.
• Experience in project management and/or work planning and scheduling.
• Strong knowledge with SAP and Excel for planning and info retrieval.

• Arrange third party contractors, vendors and suppliers as required.
• Assist Construction Services Manager in monitoring activities and metrics.
• Assist with cost performance tracking and forecasting.
• Coordinate fleet vehicles, inspections, and maintenance.
• Assist with capital equipment purchases and training compliance.
• Travel to field locations; conduct site visits as required (up to 30%).

What you’ll do:

• Develop short and long-term schedules and work plans
• Provide bottoms up cost estimates based on design reviews and construction drawings
• Liaise with Project Management personnel to establish construction requirements for projects and facilitate project success through planning and communication
• Manage project financials including PO maintenance, invoicing support, and forecasting
• Coordinate with Regional Field Work Planners to arrange support for construction activities including pipeline/station outages or operations support
• Provide logistics support to Construction Crews for materials and services with external vendors as required
• Arrange third party contractors, external vendors and suppliers as required
• Assist Construction Services Manager in monitoring work activities and tracking team performance metrics
• Assist with cost performance tracking, analysis, and forecasting
• Assist in managing fleet vehicles, driver & equipment files, including coordinating annual inspections, permitting, maintenance of vehicles and heavy equipment
• Assist with capital equipment and tool purchases
• Coordinate compliance and other required training for Construction Services team
• Conduct site visits and travel to field locations will be required

Minimum Qualifications:

• Technical school graduation, Associate’s degree, or equivalent
• 5 years of pipeline or related construction experience
• Experience in project management and/or work planning and scheduling
• Working knowledge and expertise with computerized maintenance management systems for work planning and information retrieval, specifically SAP and Excel
• Demonstrated ability to assess continuously changing resource demands and make suitable adjustments to existing plans with limited management guidance
• Superior organizational skills
• Effective analytical skills
• Strong human relations skills to effectively operate in a team-oriented environment with a willingness to support team objectives
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work closely with field teams and Management, and coordinate work with other appropriate technical resources
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
• Must be able to handle rapidly shifting priorities and multiple projects concurrently, requiring resolution of complex problems in stressful situations
• Ability and initiative to work independently, display creativity, and exercise sound judgment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of general pipeline construction, coating application, hydrostatic testing, welding, and quality control/assurance experience
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching, mentoring, guidance skills
• Experience planning and coordinating activities involving internal and external parties
• Ability to read construction drawings to identify issues, assess construction requirements including materials and transportation requirements
• Strong working knowledge and expertise with computerized maintenance management systems for work planning and information retrieval, specifically P6, Microsoft Suite, SAP
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and time management skills

This position requires candidates to:

• Have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record
• Be subject to callouts with extended workdays/weeks as required to complete assignments or emergency support
• Travel occasionally within the assigned area of responsibility and to other company locations which may include overnight trips
• Up to 30%
