Job summary

Talent Edge Recruiting in Rome, NY is seeking an experienced Controller to own the accounting function for a heavy civil construction client. This hands-on leadership role will directly manage a four-person team and partner with the company president who remains involved in finances.

Onsite Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with a hybrid option after 6+ months. Base salary $125,000–$145,000 plus benefits including 401(k) match and vacation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of accounting experience including Controller-level work.
• Construction accounting experience with WIP expertise required.
• Leadership skills to coach a four-person team and develop staff.
• Degree in accounting or finance preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Own WIP schedule and report on job profitability.
• Full-cycle accounting: AP, AR, GL, reconciliations, close.
• Explain financial results to non-accounting staff in plain language.
• Lead and mentor a staff of four.
• Partner with the president on financial oversight and decisions.
