Job summary

Miller Valentine Construction is seeking a student intern to assist with estimating tasks, bidding support, and documentation across multiple projects in Dayton, OH. You will work with the estimating team to review drawings, track changes, and help maintain schedules.

The role involves using AutoCAD for conceptual design, maintaining project docs, and collaborating in a fast-paced construction environment. Relevant coursework and strong Excel/Word skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Other degrees may be considered with relevant coursework or experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with estimating or cost accounting software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in estimating tasks, including quantity takeoffs, bid solicitation, and bid comparisons.
• Provide support with scope change estimates and specification writing.
• Review shop drawings to ensure accuracy.
• Take detailed notes during customer and project meetings.
• Assemble and review Operations & Maintenance manuals and As-Built drawings.
• Help create, update, and manage project schedules using scheduling software.
• Utilize AutoCAD to assist in conceptual design creation.
• Contribute to project-related research for cost or process improvements.
• Organize and maintain project documentation while improving business communication skills.
• Assist with project buy-out and vendor coordination.
