Job summary

STV, Inc. is seeking an experienced Cost Estimator in NYC to join the Project Controls group, supporting the NYC School Construction Authority.

The role focuses on developing accurate independent cost estimates for proposed construction change orders, validating quantities, labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing. Responsibilities include reviewing change requests, performing quantity takeoffs, developing cost data, and negotiating fair pricing with contractors, with a focus on

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-5+ years of estimating experience.
• Experience with quantity take-offs and cost analysis from construction documents.
• Knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, and cost drivers.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and Validate Change Requests.
• Analyze proposed change orders, RFIs, and scope revisions.
• Determine contractual validity and scope outside the original contract.
• Identify cost, schedule, and constructability impacts.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment and indirect costs.
• Prepare independent estimates for comparison against contractor proposals.
• Participate in negotiations and support project management.
