Job summary

Lowen Companies is seeking skilled and dependable individuals to join our unit renovation team as Carpenter / Flooring Installers. This role involves finish carpentry and flooring installation work, including trim, cabinet installation, specialties installation, and vinyl plank flooring. Candidates must be clean‑cut, reliable, and professional when working in occupied spaces.

The ideal candidate has worked extensively in occupied multi‑family and residential spaces where tenant and client interaction is expected. They understand the need for a sense of urgency in the work they complete while maintaining best practices for safety and quality control. They are proactive, highly organized, and are able to build and maintain strong relationships with owners, trade partners, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform finish carpentry including trim, cabinets, doors, and minor framing.
  • Install vinyl plank flooring, base shoe, and transitions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas in occupied spaces.
  • Communicate professionally with tenants and building staff.
  • Ensure all work aligns with scope, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with teammates and other trades.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and site protocols.
  • Lead and manage all onsite construction activities from start to finish.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards, building codes, and permit requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with city officials, owners, trade partners, and project teams.
Qualifications
Education
  • 3+ years of combined carpentry and flooring installation experience preferred, with a preference for individuals who have worked in memory‑care occupied facilities.
  • Experience with LVP flooring required.
  • Skilled in use of hand/power tools and layout techniques.
  • Friendly, respectful demeanor.
  • Reliable transportation within one hour of the Twin Cities metro area.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, kneel, bend, and work in occupied settings.
  • Clean, professional appearance and communication.
  • High school diploma or GED with 10 years of industry experience considered.
Technical Competencies
  • Maintain competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Competent with project management software (Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Monday.com).
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
