Beginning Hourly Rate Range: $25.00 - $28.00

About this opportunity:

We are seeking a Construction Carpenter to join our Field team in Grand Rapids. This individual will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure quality project delivery, acting in General Contracting and Construction Management.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to grasp requirements fully
  • Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
  • Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements
  • Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
  • Create structures for pouring concrete
  • Install structures and fixtures, such as windows and molding
  • Build scaffolding and other construction structures
  • Comply with legal requirements and building codes
  • Work closely with project clients, project site superintendents, project managers
  • Handling and transporting objects and materials
  • Strong communication abilities with Supervisors, Peers, and Subordinates
  • Perform work in accordance with safety best practices
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe operating condition
  • Move and install machinery
  • Conduct building inspections and identify needed repairs
  • Document repairs and maintain thorough records
  • Cut, shape, and alter materials as needed
  • Build and install doors, cabinets, and windows
  • This role requires outdoor work in all weather conditions, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Education and experience: High School Diploma or GED. Carpentry Certification .
  • Construction Background:Hands on experience working with carpentry materials. Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.). Ability to read technical documents, drawings, construction plans and elevations.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: Good understanding of basic Math.
  • Eye for Details:Accuracy is critical for success in this role. Candidate must have superior organizational, communication (both written and verbal), decision-making and time management skills.
  • Physical Requirements:Ability to lift 50 pounds.
