Job summary

AL Homes Inc is seeking a Construction Bid Manager based in California to lead full bid processes for public works and private commercial projects. You will coordinate estimating, subcontractor solicitation, and post-bid negotiations to secure profitable work, ensuring client requirements are met.

Role requires 5+ years in construction estimating, PM, or bid management, with California industry experience preferred; degree in CM/CE/Architecture is preferred.

About the Role

This position is employed by AL Homes Inc, a brand of AlphaX RE Capital. The Construction Bid Manager is responsible for managing the entire bidding and proposal process for construction projects. This role coordinates estimating, subcontractor solicitation, bid preparation, proposal submission, and post-bid negotiations to secure profitable projects while ensuring compliance with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Bid Management

• Lead and manage the complete bid process from opportunity identification to contract award.
• Review RFQs, RFPs, ITBs, and project specifications.
• Develop bid schedules and ensure timely submission of proposals.
• Coordinate with estimating, engineering, project management, and executive teams.
• Work closely with estimators to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Review quantity takeoffs, labor calculations, and material pricing.
• Analyze project risks and recommend contingency allowances.
• Verify subcontractor and supplier quotations.

Proposal Preparation

• Prepare and compile technical and commercial proposals.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements and submission guidelines.
• Develop bid narratives, qualifications, schedules, and project approach statements.
• Maintain proposal templates and bid documentation.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Build and maintain relationships with qualified subcontractors.
• Negotiate pricing and scope clarifications.
• Ensure subcontractor compliance with licensing and insurance requirements.

Contract Review

• Review contract terms and conditions.
• Identify potential contractual risks.
• Coordinate with legal counsel when necessary.
• Support contract negotiations with clients.

What We’re Looking For

Experience:

• 5+ years of construction estimating, project management, or bid management experience.
• Experience with public works and private commercial construction projects preferred.
• California construction industry experience preferred.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.

The expected salary range for this position is $39.00 to $45.00 per hour. The actual salary offer will be determined based on the successful candidate's geographic location, relevant experience, and specific skill sets, in accordance with California laws. Visa sponsorship is available for qualified candidates.
