Job Overview:

A law firm seeks an experienced and highly skilled Construction Attorney to join its dynamic and growing team. This position will allow you to work on some of the most high-profile construction projects in Michigan, collaborating with a diverse range of clients, including municipalities, developers, contractors, and more. The firm's construction practice is at the forefront of industry advancements, offering an ideal environment for attorneys seeking significant responsibility and professional growth.

Duties:
  • Provide expert legal advice to clients on all aspects of development and construction projects.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction and development-related contracts.
  • Counsel clients on matters related to real estate, zoning, insurance, financing, and environmental law.
  • Play a key role in planning and managing large-scale construction projects.
  • Resolve disputes through various methods, including alternative dispute resolution, negotiation, and litigation.
  • Analyze project specifications and ensure all contracts comply with relevant terms.
  • Oversee and manage claims, warranty submissions, and bond-related issues.
  • Represent clients in cases involving construction defects, working closely with architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Prepare and manage construction liens, including handling lien foreclosure litigation and ensuring proper filing procedures.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience practicing construction law, with a preference for candidates with experience in large commercial projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail and organization.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex and technical matters.
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities and the ability to navigate intricate legal challenges.
  • Experience in managing projects or cases that involve multiple moving parts and deliverables.
  • Excellent academic background and law school performance.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Education:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
