Job Overview

The Assistant Project Manager will handle estimating, scheduling, procurement, and project management for distribution and transmission construction projects. This role involves establishing baseline schedules, monitoring progress and costs, maintaining client relationships, and supporting field operations to ensure projects are completed efficiently and cost-effectively. The position requires developing advanced skills and working independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects according to Pike policies and procedures
• Build and maintain effective client relationships
• Oversee subcontractors and procurement of materials
• Implement change control and risk management
• Prepare detailed project estimates before construction
• Provide performance feedback to operations and field management
• Report on contract status and project performance
• Ensure financial controls to maintain profitability
• Support emergency and storm restoration efforts

Minimum Qualifications

• 4-year degree in engineering or construction management (preferred)
• At least 2 years of project management experience in construction, preferably utility construction
• Knowledge of project management fundamentals
• Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with MS Project or Primavera is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
• Proven relationship-building skills and goal-oriented mindset
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Basic understanding of project financial practices and contract types
• Ability to work with diverse individuals

Physical and Work Environment
