Job summary

ER Contracting is seeking a Construction Accounting Specialist to support the financial operations of our residential and commercial projects in Maryland. You will handle job costing, AP/AR, and GAAP-compliant reporting using QuickBooks Online and Excel.

The role requires accuracy, multi-project management, and collaboration with project managers on budgets, change orders, and forecasts. Strong Excel and accounting experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Verifiable accounting experience in the construction industry is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables).
• Experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Knowledge of job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient 10-key typing and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle construction accounting, including job costing.
• Manage project cost tracking, budget analysis, and variance reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Process accounts payable and support accounts receivable functions.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain general ledger accuracy.
• Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Monitor project billing, retainage, lien waivers, and subcontractor payments.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Collaborate with project managers on budgets, change orders, and forecasts.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial documentation.
• Support cash flow management and financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
• Use Microsoft Excel to create and maintain job cost reports and financial models.
• Utilize automation and AI-powered tools where applicable to improve accounting workflows and reporting efficiency.
