Description

Posting Title: Construction Accounting Manager

Reports To: Director, Project Accounting

Location: San Jose, California | Remote | Travel to jobsites as needed

Salary Range: $165,000 to $175,000

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. We offer a competitive compensation package with robust benefits.

The Finance Team

Our finance team ensures the financial well-being of the company through accurate and timely reporting, comprising seven specialized teams working together.

About The Role

  1. Provide proactive analysis and recommendations to optimize project performance.
  2. Manage divisional profit and loss, oversee expenses, and support financial planning.
  3. Monitor cash positions and ensure timely billing and collection.
  4. Prepare project forecasts and WIP reports accurately and promptly.
  5. Support strategic financial planning for growth.
  6. Evaluate new project opportunities and contract terms for risk and strategic fit.
  7. Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and company policies.
  8. Oversee customer audits, disputes, and financial issues related to projects.
  9. Coordinate with tax team on tax matters.
  10. Train new project team members on financial processes.
  11. Maintain key control and reporting metrics using data tools.
  12. Potentially manage a team.

Scope and Complexity

Responsible for meeting objectives, guiding teams, and making decisions affecting costs and results within established policies. Works on diverse issues requiring evaluation of multiple factors and trends.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate across all levels.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, proactive attitude.
  • Knowledge of job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
  • Familiarity with billing types, retention tracking, and subcontractor compliance.
  • Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office 365, and advanced Excel skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. At least 5 years of leadership experience overseeing financial operations, preferably in construction.
