Job summary

New Dominion Construction, LLC seeks a Staff Accountant to ensure accurate financial reporting, manage job cost tracking, and support the company's accounting objectives. This role requires a proactive mindset and the ability to work both independently and with a team in a fast-paced construction environment.

The ideal candidate has GAAP knowledge, 3+ years of accounting experience in construction, and proficiency with Sage 300, Viewpoint, Foundation and Excel, with occasional site visits

Qualifications

• Construction accounting knowledge (job costing, AIA billing, WIP/percentage of completion preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with financial data.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills; identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
• Proficiency with accounting software (Sage 300, Viewpoint, Foundation, QuickBooks) and HRIS/payroll systems (UKG).
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, data validation).
• Strong written and verbal communication; collaborate with project managers, vendors, clients.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger Maintenance: prepare and maintain GL entries and reconciliations.
• Accounts Payable: manage and process report vendors, subcontractor payments.
• Accounts Receivable: manage aging reports, AIA, customer payments.
• Job Costing & Project Accounting: track project costs, labor, materials, overhead; support cost allocation and forecasting.
• Compliance & Audits: assist with audits and documentation.
• Payroll Support: assist in payroll preparation and cost allocations.
• Vendor & Client Relations: resolve billing/payment issues.
