Mountain Creek Contractors, Inc is seeking an assertive Staff Accountant to join the finance team in Mount Pleasant, SC. Experience in the construction industry is a MUST. You will manage payroll, AP, and GAAP-compliant financial records while leveraging analytics tools and automation to improve efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have strong Excel skills, problem-solving ability, and a collaborative mindset to support audits and cross-functional finance needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA or relevant certification is a plus.
• 1–5 years of accounting experience with GAAP knowledge.
• Proficiency in Excel and analytical software; Spectrum or Sage preferred.
• Hands-on payroll and accounts payable experience.
• Strong problem-solving and process-improvement mindset.
• Tech-savvy with automation and AI-driven analytics.
• Construction industry experience required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records in GAAP compliance.
• Own payroll processing including calculations and deductions.
• Handle accounts payable, vendor payments, and reconciliations.
• Perform ERP reporting and prepare financial analyses.
• Identify discrepancies and improve processes.
• Collaborate across departments for data flow alignment.
• Conduct ad-hoc analyses and support audits as needed.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and general ledger tasks.
• Contribute to automation initiatives to streamline finance ops.
