The City of Hialeah is seeking a versatile laborer to perform a wide range of manual tasks and operate light equipment as needed. Responsibilities include delivery, setup and breakdown for city-wide events, street cleaning, repairs to facilities, painting, debris removal, and assisting in disaster response.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and a valid Florida driver’s license, with the ability to lift heavy objects and work under supervision.

Employees in this class perform a wide variety of manual labor. However, as work experience is gained, employees may be assigned to work of more than ordinary difficulty. Work is usually closely supervised, and the employee receives specific work instructions at the beginning of each new assignment. Constant supervision is not necessary for routine or repetitive tasks.
The following are some of the physical requirements associated with this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made by the City to enable an individual to perform the essential duties/functions of the position. Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment such as hand tools, etc. Must be able to see and distinguish colors, hear and smell. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work involves walking more than a mile per day, climbing stairs and ladders, moving, reaching, handling, bending, and stooping for periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 25 to 50 pounds.
Graduation from an accredited high school/institution or possession of a state high school equivalency diploma (GED) and twelve months experience in performing unskilled, light, or heavy manual labor. Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis. Have a current valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
