Job summary

The Straz Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a Technical Director to lead the Patel Conservatory's production team in Tampa. This role oversees lighting, sound, scenic, costume design, and construction, and supervises Production staff while collaborating with directors and department chairs to support technical needs.

Located in downtown Tampa, the Straz Center offers a strong benefits package, 403(b) plan, and up to 26 PTO/Holidays annually.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated with strong administrative and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
• Good understanding of budgeting, planning and general management principles.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.
• Must be able to pass a Level 2 background screening.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Conservatory Technical Supervisor, Production Administrator, and Education Production staff.
• Prepares and trains students and staff in technical capacities as needed.
• Evaluates production and event needs and schedules staff accordingly.
• Oversees lighting, sound, scenic, and construction for conservatory productions.
• Maintains SOPs and collaborates with the Production Team for efficient operations.
