Job summary

Town of Marblehead is seeking a Conservation Agent/Planner to oversee land development in compliance with the Wetlands Protection Act, local bylaws, and regulations, and to support the Conservation Commission in enforcement and planning.

You will serve as the main point of contact for residents and developers, conduct site inspections, review projects, assist with applications, and coordinate with staff to advance the town's short- and long-range planning goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, urban planning or related field.
4–6 years of experience in a public or private agency dealing with environmental issues.
Master’s degree in urban/regional planning or related field preferred.
Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and ability to travel for site visits.
Experience with wetlands, stormwater, and land disturbance regulations is highly desired.

Responsibilities

Administers wetlands bylaws and enforcement matters with the Conservation Commission.
Review plans for compliance with Wetlands Protection Act and local bylaws.
Inspect sites and buildings for wetlands applicability before permits.
Prepare and participate in Conservation Commission meetings.
Assist landowners and developers with applications and notices.
Maintain records, maps, and GIS data for the Commission.
Coordinate with Town staff on planning and project reviews.
