Job summary

Friends of the Lost River, Inc. in Bowling Green, KY invites a Conservation Technician to advance invasive species control and native restoration.

You will join a team focused on upland prairie and karst valley meadows, building relationships with partners, volunteers, and supporters while planning potential restoration expansion. Role emphasizes field work, regulatory records, and occasional fundraising support; 40 hours weekly with some weekend commitments and $18/hr wage with a 90-day review

Qualifications

• Degree in ecology, natural resource management, biology, horticulture, or related field or qualifying real-world experience.
• Knowledge of invasive and native plant species of this region or willingness to gain that knowledge.
• Ability to work independently on project lists and solo daily tasks.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain Herbicide Application Licenses (Categories 2, 3 and 6).

Responsibilities

• Carry out manual, mechanical, and chemical control methods of invasive plants.
• Operate tractors and industry tools after training, including sprayers and small equipment.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on work and results.
• Coordinate with partners and departments on shared projects and events.
• Present programming on invasive species and best management practices.
• Assist with grant research opportunities when requested.
