Job summary

American Conservation Experience, in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, seeks two Members for invasive plant management, long-term monitoring, and biology support at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge in Austwell, TX.

Positions include guidance from FWS staff, fieldwork Monday–Friday with potential weekend work, and a living allowance while housing is provided at no cost. Start date is September 28, 2026 with a March 12, 2027 end date.

Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship provided.
  • Able to work independently or in a small team.
  • Valid driver’s license with insurable record; 21+ to drive.
  • Willing to pass criminal history checks.
  • Able to hike long distances in varied terrain in hot, humid conditions.
  • Experience with invasive plant management using mechanical and chemical methods.
  • Knowledge of plant identification.
  • S-212 Chainsaw certification.
  • Experience driving 4WD trucks/ATVs/UTVs.

Responsibilities

  • Support invasive plant management and herbicide treatments.
  • Monitor and map treated areas and collect data using iPads and GPS.
  • Assist with other invasives and biology tasks as assigned.
  • Operate 4WD trucks/UTVs safely and support field teams.
