Job summary

Resolution Health and Wellness Center in Halethorpe, Maryland is seeking a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our behavioral health team. You will provide individual and group counseling to clients with substance use disorders, and help them build healthier lives.

The role offers full-time hours, a Monday–Friday schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no weekends. Competitive pay at $26–$32/hour plus benefits such as health insurance and PTO.

Qualifications

• CAC-AD, CSC-AD, ADT, LGPC, LCPC, LMSW, LCSW-C, LGADC, LCADC or other Maryland behavioral health licensure/certification preferred.
• Experience in outpatient, IOP, residential, or behavioral health settings is desirable.
• Strong communication, assessment, counseling, and treatment-planning abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine clients' treatment needs.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance use recovery.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans.
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment as needed.
• Facilitate psychoeducational, recovery, and relapse-prevention groups.
• Coordinate care with psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and case managers.
• Educate clients and families about addiction, recovery, and resources.
• Complete clinical documentation in the EHR and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and continuing education.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine clients' treatment needs.
• Provide individual, and group counseling sessions focused on substance use recovery.
• Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans.
• Monitor client progress and modify treatment interventions as needed.
• Facilitate psychoeducational, recovery, and relapse prevention groups.
• Provide crisis intervention and appropriate referrals when necessary.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate client care.
• Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery, relapse prevention, and available community resources.
• Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and other required records in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Ensure compliance with COMAR regulations, Maryland behavioral health standards, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
• Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and continuing education activities.
