Role Summary

We are building an exciting new software defined vehicle architecture and looking for talented and motivated engineers to join our team. Come help shape the future of automotive by contributing to one of the most advanced platforms in the industry. More specifically our team is building a modern, multilingual, messaging framework and we are looking for someone with strong Kotlin experience to help grow our team’s capabilities. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is eager to learn, and enjoys collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Define the communication framework for future vehicles, including vehicles within the VW brand
• Design and implementation of embedded applications in C++, Go, Kotlin, and Rust
• Maintenance and problem solving of existing embedded applications
• Support teams integrating with our libraries and applications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize, allocate, and plan project milestones
• Experience leading architecture discussions and driving decisions on technical direction
• Proven ability to mentor and guide junior developers, providing code reviews and constructive feedback

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Adept at C++, Kotlin, Go, Rust best practices and paradigms
• Experience with the Android Soong/Bazel, Yocto, Go, Cargo/Crates build systems and package management
• Proficiency with testing frameworks such as JUnit, MockK
• Proficient in asynchronous programming and handling concurrency effectively in Kotlin
• Strong Git skills (repo tools, submodules, git-lfs)
• Android and AOSP experience
• Gitlab CI experience (If not Gitlab another major CI, i.e. GitHub, Jenkins)
• Proficient with Linux

Bonus Skills

• Arm64 (OSX/embedded) cross compiling experience
• Experience with messaging systems such as MQTT, and especially NATS

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $186,000 - $232,500 USD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
