Venable LLP is seeking a Conflicts Attorney in Miami to evaluate and resolve conflicts of interest for new business intake, matter openings, and lateral onboarding. The role involves complex analyses, advising firm leadership on risk and ethics, and ensuring compliance with professional responsibility rules.

The candidate will draft waivers, review Outside Counsel Guidelines, and support conflict-related data maintenance. Strong research, communication, and discretion are essential.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with active Florida bar status.
• Minimum of 3 years in conflicts or professional responsibility at a mid-to-large law firm.
• Strong research and analytical skills to assess conflicts and risk.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze actual and potential conflicts for clients using internal systems and external databases.
• Recommend conflict-resolution strategies including ethical walls and disclosures.
• Draft waivers, disclosures, and engagement letters; support Waivers and consent processes.
• Review Outside Counsel Guidelines and engagement letters for conflicts provisions and updates to data.
• Conduct conflicts analyses for lateral attorney candidates and coordinate with leadership to clear conflicts.
• Educate attorneys and staff on ethical obligations and conflicts procedures.
