Job summary

Hale Recruiting represents a leading global law firm seeking a Conflicts Staff Attorney in a hybrid role located in Chicago or Washington, D.C. This non-associate-track position focuses on conflicts review for lateral hires and new matters, with an emphasis on analytical rigor and collaboration with firm leadership.

You will analyze conflict reports, draft practical summaries, support waivers and screening, engage in onboarding, and maintain detailed, deadline-driven workflows.

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school is required.
• Active admission to a U.S. bar and in good standing required.
• 2–4 years of conflicts clearance experience preferred, preferably in a law firm.
• Candidates from smaller firms or compliance/ethics roles will be considered.
• Previous titles include Conflicts Analyst or similar, with a JD.

Responsibilities

• Analyze conflicts reports related to lateral hires and new matters.
• Evaluate search results to identify potential conflicts of interest.
• Draft clear conflicts summaries for attorneys and firm leadership.
• Partner with lawyers to resolve issues, implement screens, and support waivers.
• Review conflicts questionnaires from lateral candidates.
• Support the lateral onboarding process from conflicts/compliance perspective.
• Prepare engagement documents, including waivers and screening memoranda.
• Track and manage multiple conflicts reviews in a deadline-driven environment.
• Contribute to improvements in conflicts workflows, systems, and processes.
• Prepare detailed summaries for lateral partner candidates and draft waivers and screens.
