The Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Conflicts Attorney to join our General Counsel's office. This individual will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving potential legal and business conflicts of interest related to new business intake, lateral attorney hiring, and firm operations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of legal ethics and professional responsibility rules, along with excellent judgment and communication skills.
Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and analyze conflict checks for new client matters, potential lateral hires, and firm business relationships.
  • Identify and assess potential conflicts of interest, including direct, positional, and issue conflicts.
  • Recommend conflict resolutions and coordinate with attorneys and firm leadership to implement and maintain ethical screens or waivers when necessary.
  • Draft waiver letters and engagement letters as needed.
  • Review engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, and other client and vendor agreements for conflicts-related language and compliance.
  • Support the firm's lateral onboarding and integration processes by evaluating conflicts related to incoming attorneys and their prior representations.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of conflict reviews and resolutions.
  • Provide guidance to attorneys and staff regarding the firm's conflicts policies and the application of professional conduct rules, including working with the Office of General Counsel on written templates and guidance.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 2+ years of experience in conflicts analysis or legal ethics within a law firm or in-house legal environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ABA and state ethics rules, particularly those related to conflicts of interest, confidentiality, and attorney mobility.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex conflicts issues clearly and concisely.
  • Experience with conflicts databases or new business intake systems, preferably Intapp.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

A variety of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, other business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. This position is considered full-time and therefore qualifies for benefits including 401(k) retirement savings plan, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
Pay Range
$130,000-$160,000 USD
