KOAM Engineering Systems is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to support CM, lab coordination, documentation, and operational support in a DoD lab environment. You will manage asset inventories, track changes and ensure security compliance for classified materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or related field required or equivalent combination of military training and technical instruction
  • 3–5 years of CM tracking tools experience (CMPRO) in a DoD/lab environment
  • Ability to understand complex technical systems and how changes affect mission execution
  • Experience maintaining/producing technical documentation, inventory records, asset trackers, procedures or schedules
  • Experience coordinating with multiple teams to track action items and resolve conflicts
  • Experience interfacing with government customers, leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to identify risks, communicate impacts and follow through on actions
  • Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, reliability and prioritization in a dynamic lab environment

Responsibilities

  • Support CM activities for Missile Defense O&M assets, including unclassified and classified property inventories and reporting
  • Understand lab systems, responsibilities, assets, dependencies and priorities to assist coordination and documentation
  • Maintain configuration control and docs for lab assets (locations, rack layouts, cabling, interfaces)
  • Coordinate with technical teams to clarify requirements and track changes
  • Support CM Change Request development, tracking, documentation and closure
  • Assist with lab access coordination and ensure clearance and security requirements are met
  • Help with schedule awareness and coverage coordination per guidance of team lead
  • Identify documentation gaps, asset conflicts and process issues impacting lab execution
  • Support transition to BMC Helix scheduling by maintaining accurate data and visibility
  • Maintain secure handling of classified media and controlled docs
  • Clearly communicate status, risks and needs to leadership and teams
  • Follow processes and support operational tasks as needed

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to support configuration management, lab coordination, documentation, and operational support within a Department of Defense test, integration, and evaluation environment. This position requires a technically capable team member who can understand complex lab systems at a high level, learn how equipment and assets support lab operations, and maintain accurate documentation to support configuration control and test readiness. This position will support configuration control, asset tracking, documentation updates, lab coordination, and operational priorities within the Ballistic Missile Defense lab environment. This role requires someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to communicate clearly with technical teams, leadership, and the government customer.

Responsibilities
  • Support configuration management activities for Missile Defense O&M assets, including management of unclassified plant property and classified material. Maintain an accurate inventory of all assets, provide status reports, and assist with NIWC Pacific's required annual inventories. Support the gaining and/or controlling of & the transfer, excess, retirement, and/or destruction of plant property and classified material in accordance with NIWC Pacific's guidelines
  • Develop a working understanding of lab systems, team responsibilities, shared assets, equipment dependencies, and operational priorities to support effective coordination and documentation
  • Maintain configuration control and documentation for lab assets, including equipment locations, rack layouts, cable paths, system interfaces, and related support materials
  • Coordinate with technical teams to clarify requirements, track action items, document changes, and support timely resolution of operational issues
  • Support Configuration Change Request development, tracking, coordination, documentation, and closure for lab modifications, equipment moves, cabling changes, system updates, restoration actions, and test support activities
  • Support lab access coordination and help ensure personnel meet required clearance, access, and security requirements to enter and operate within the lab environment
  • Assist with schedule awareness, coverage coordination, and operational prioritization as directed by the team lead or program leadership
  • Proactively identify documentation gaps, asset conflicts, process issues, and potential impacts to lab execution
  • Support the transition to BMC Helix scheduling software by maintaining accurate information, following established processes, and supporting visibility of coverage requirements
  • Maintain strict attention to detail when handling, tracking, storing, transferring, or safeguarding classified media, controlled documentation, and configuration-controlled materials
  • Communicate status, risks, impacts, recommendations, and support needs clearly and professionally to leadership, customers, and internal teams
  • Follow established processes, support team execution, and step into operational support tasks when needed
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Education/Licensure/Credentials

Required:

  • * Bachelor's degree in a related field such as business, engineering, information technology, logistics, cybersecurity, configuration management, or a closely related discipline
  • * Equivalent specialized knowledge customarily acquired through a combination of military training, formal technical instruction, certifications, and substantial practical experience performing work of comparable scope and complexity

Experience

Required:

  • Minimum 3-5 years exposure to collaborative and CM tracking tools such as CMPRO with experience in a technical, operational, lab, test, integration, configuration management, or Department of Defense support environment
  • Ability to understand technical systems at a high level and recognize how equipment, assets, schedules, and configuration changes affect mission execution
  • Experience maintaining or supporting technical documentation, configuration records, inventory records, asset trackers, procedures, schedules, or other operational support documentation
  • Experience coordinating with multiple teams to track action items, clarify requirements, resolve conflicts, and support operational priorities
  • Experience interfacing professionally with government customers, program leadership, technical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ability to identify risks, communicate impacts, recommend solutions, and follow through on assigned actions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, reliability, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic lab environment

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting Navy, Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, Combined Test Bed, Program Generation Center, or similar Department of Defense lab, test, integration, or fleet support environments
  • Experience supporting configuration management, configuration change processes, technical documentation, asset tracking, inventory control, lab modernization, equipment moves, rack reconfiguration, cable management, or infrastructure transition efforts
  • Experience using CMPro, configuration management databases, inventory systems, scheduling tools, document repositories, BMC Helix, or other workflow, ticketing, asset management, or scheduling tools
  • Experience working in a secure lab, classified environment, military environment, test environment, or operational support environment
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process gaps, support consistent team execution, and step into operational gaps when needed
  • This position requires an existing U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Secret level. Individuals must be able to maintain the necessary security clearance/eligibility for continued employment. U.S. Citizenship required
