Job summary

PingWind is seeking a skilled Configuration Management & Documentation Specialist to support a large Federal Government client. You will provide configuration management, change control, and technical documentation to maintain accurate, controlled, and traceable information through the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include CMDB maintenance, baseline updates, and cross‑team coordination. Remote work possible with occasional travel; VA background investigation clearance required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years IT experience with at least 3 years in Configuration Management/Tech Editing at a large corporation or government agency similar in size to VA/ DoD.
• A Master’s degree in a related IT field may substitute for up to 2 years of the required experience.
• Expertise in project management with understanding of how configuration management fits into the project lifecycle.

• Maintain records for hardware, software, system configurations, documentation, and deliverables.
• Develop and update technical processes, configuration standards, baselines, and procedures.
• Support change‑control processes and maintain associated documentation and traceability.
• Maintain and support centralized CMDB information in accordance with ITSM practices.
• Coordinate configuration management activities across technical and project teams.
• Perform documentation reviews and quality‑control to ensure accurate technical artifacts.

Location

Remote; travel may be required in support of meetings, training, presentations, or briefings with project stakeholders

Required Clearance

Ability to obtain and maintain the required VA background investigation/suitability determination

Certifications

Certification in one or more of the following: IAT III, IAM III or IASAE III certifications. IAT III/ IAM III / IASAE III certifications may be substituted for a relevant Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant experience

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree in IT related field (i.e. Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Information Security, Information Resource Management).

Required Experience

• VA/Federal technical documentation experience.
• ITIL certification.
• Experience with automated configuration or compliance tracking tools.
