Job description

Firehawk Aerospace is a leading propulsion-focused aerospace and defense company located in Addison, TX. Our innovative approach empowers us to design and manufacture cutting-edge solid and hybrid rocket motors and engines. We aim to push the boundaries of propulsion technology to serve both commercial and defense sectors.

This position will be full-time located at our Addison, TX facilities with occasional travel potentially required.

Firehawk Aerospace is seeking an experienced Configuration and Data Integrator to serve as the critical technical and operational bridge between Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Information Technology. This position will report directly to the design engineering manager and will own the digital thread across enterprise architectures while serving as the primary business owner for engineering software suites. The ideal candidate should be an effective communicator who excels in cross-functional collaboration and possesses extensive experience with PLM-ERP-MES integration, BOM harmonization, and engineering software lifecycle management. They should demonstrate strong systems thinking capabilities and the ability to create robust data interoperability frameworks that ensure seamless product transitions from design concepts to physical production while maintaining data integrity across all enterprise systems.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the functional business process owner for data pipelines and integration points between PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
  • Author, maintain, and optimize data exchange protocols to eliminate data silos and manual data entry between enterprise systems.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between the Engineering division and Enterprise IT/Infrastructure teams for all engineering software tools and platforms.
  • Own the lifecycle, deployment strategies, license management, and configuration of core engineering software suites (e.g., CAD, FEA, PLM, simulation, and test tools).
  • Coordinate software validation protocols, regression testing, and scheduled downtime for environment upgrades to minimize disruption to engineering timelines.
  • Manage the lifecycle transformation and alignment of the Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM) into the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM).
  • Establish standards for data integrity and attribute continuity (part numbers, effectivity, unitization, and find numbers) across all BOM views by program phase.
  • Support establishment and compliance of business rules for how phantom assemblies, make/buy decisions, and line-stock are represented across ERP and PLM environments.
  • Develop and manage configuration management processes, serving as primary data manager while designing lifecycle templates, workflows, and data architectures to ensure automated generation of comprehensive, audit-ready technical archives.
  • Provide system administration including user management, access control, feature refinement, fault monitoring, and alignment of internal/external requirements in a highly regulated aerospace environment.
  • Facilitate Engineering Change Boards (ECB) and Configuration Control Boards (CCB) to review engineering changes, while participating in design reviews and organizational initiatives as both administrator and advisor on configuration management and data integration practices.
  • Review, approve, and communicate configuration information to customer organizations and internal departments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and timely delivery of solutions based on user feedback.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a configuration management, data integration, or engineering systems role with demonstrated expertise in PLM-ERP integration.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (engineering, IT, or computer science preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace configuration management principles, BOM structures, and product lifecycle workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise system integration and data interoperability frameworks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) and data analysis tools.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to excel in a fast-paced R and D environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active or previous security clearance.
  • Experience with PTC Windchill, SAP, Oracle, or similar PLM/ERP platforms and their integration architectures.
  • Familiarity with API development, middleware solutions, and system integration tools (e.g., REST APIs, web services, ETL tools).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, SQL) and automated data transformation processes.
  • Experience managing multi-system data synchronization and master data management (MDM) strategies.
  • Understanding of MES platforms and shop floor data collection systems.
  • Familiarity with change notification processes for defense customers.
  • Experience developing custom software interfaces and data validation workflows.
  • Understanding of Export Control regulations and ITAR compliance in data management contexts.
  • Experience in a startup or rapid-growth aerospace environment.
  • Proficient in CAD data management, product structure configuration, and as-designed to as-built traceability.
  • Experience with aerospace hardware development campaigns.
  • Background in both development and production environments with understanding of stage-gate transitions.
  • Experience with technical data packages for DoD acquisitions and understanding of data deliverable requirements.
  • Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-61 or similar configuration management methodologies for defense hardware.
  • Knowledge of digital thread/digital twin architectures and their implementation across engineering and manufacturing domains.
  • Experience with software license optimization, vendor management, and engineering tool portfolios.
