Location: New England Area (on-site; specific client location confidential). Employment Type: Full-time, exempt. Industry: Transportation. Reports To: Assistant Vice President, Infrastructure. Salary: $85,000 annually. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Summary

MGT is seeking a Project Manager, Engineering and Environmental to support one of our valued confidential clients within the transportation industry. This full-time salaried position that offers the opportunity to participate in infrastructure projects throughout the entire project lifecycle, from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and closeout.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in civil engineering, supplemented by experience or demonstrated knowledge of environmental regulatory compliance. The Project Manager will coordinate with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other project partners while managing a variety of infrastructure and capital improvement projects.

This position will be located in the New England Area. The selected candidate must be available to work on-site at the client’s location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project schedules throughout planning, design, permitting, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
• Develop project definition reports identifying project needs, justification, scope, schedule, budget, and funding requirements.
• Manage multiple infrastructure projects concurrently while monitoring scope, schedule, budget, quality, technical requirements, and operational impacts.
• Review engineering plans, specifications, technical reports, cost estimates, schedules, and related project documents.
• Coordinate with consultants and contractors to ensure projects progress in accordance with approved scope, schedule, budget, and contract requirements.
• Participate in the development and review of design documents and provide input throughout the design process.
• Provide oversight of bidding, procurement, construction, and project closeout activities, including review of bid and contract documents, submissions, payment requests, amendments, change orders, and submittals.
• Participate in project progress meetings and oversee commissioning, punch‑list activities, final inspections, record documentation, and closeout.
• Prepare project status, progress, financial, and management reports.
• Assist with grant applications, funding requests, presentations, and other project-related documentation.
• Coordinate with funding and regulatory agencies to identify appropriate funding sources and support compliance with applicable requirements.
• Work with internal departments and external stakeholders to minimize operational impacts during project implementation.
• Support environmental compliance activities related to water quality, stormwater, erosion and sediment control, waste management, and other applicable requirements.
• Maintain environmental permitting and compliance tracking systems for assigned projects.
• Review environmental permits and regulatory requirements and coordinate with project teams to maintain compliance.
• Support environmental compliance inspections and document findings and corrective actions.
• Assist with environmental programs and initiatives including vegetation management, habitat restoration, stormwater, and water‑quality programs.
• Prepare environmental reports, permit applications, agency correspondence, and regulatory submissions.
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve project issues and maintain project progress.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Project preferred.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to successfully complete and maintain required background‑clearance requirements.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; master’s degree preferred.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination preferred, with the ability or interest to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• Demonstrated experience supporting engineering projects through planning, design, permitting, construction, and closeout.
• Experience with environmental permitting, regulatory agency coordination, wetlands, water quality, stormwater, or other environmental compliance activities preferred.
• Interest in gaining broad project experience across a variety of civil engineering, infrastructure, environmental, and planning initiatives.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position requires the ability to visit project and construction sites, walk throughout active transportation and infrastructure environments, and work both indoors and outdoors. The position also involves prolonged computer use, sitting, and close attention to technical detail.
