Berklee College of Music is seeking a Conducting Area Assistant in the Instrumental Studies Department to provide administrative, logistical and communications support for conducting area activities, classes, performances and events on campus.
Responsibilities include assisting with auditions, proctors, managing emails and programs, moving equipment, and aiding faculty with classroom needs. This is a part-time on-campus student job with an hourly rate of $18.54.
In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements: Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters. Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN). Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester. Federal Work Study student may apply. The Conducting Area Assistant within the Instrumental Studies Department provides general administrative, logistical and communications support for the faculty within the conducting area, supporting the operations of regularly scheduled weekly classes, as well as performances and special events.
Conducting Area Assistants are also integral to the success of the new student audition process, serving as proctors, alongside admissions staff, outside of audition rooms, and assisting to answer questions and extend a warm welcome to prospective students and their families.
Conducting Area Assistants must be proactive in their communications with the faculty and department chair, remain highly organized, and reliably fulfill duties as requested.
