A little about us?

Coloscapes Concrete was started in 2004 with a vision to create a first-rate commercial concrete company with the capability of providing clients with a full-service concrete experience. We began tackling the entire concrete process including structural foundations, flatwork, and any components of site concrete. Over the years, we have created an installation team that can meet the needs of our clientele in terms of quality, cost, and schedule.

Since we started, we’re proud to have grown from a handful of employees to a company that can staff the most complicated construction projects. With our 75 + full-time staff, we complete top-notch projects in Colorado, Wyoming, and Arizona.

What is your role?

The Concrete Superintendent will be responsible for managing daily construction tasks and short-term schedules for one to six projects, (depending on the scope, size, and location), to meet Coloscapes Concrete client contract obligations, and project document requirements, safety and project budgets.

Essential job duties
  • Knowledge and experience with all aspects of concrete construction.
  • Monitor and ensure all job site safety systems and practices are in place and being followed.
  • Maintain the coordination between Operations Leader for all crew and other resource needs.
  • Manage project equipment, materials, tools, etc. to be on-site timely and ensure overall mobilization budgets are on track and not overspend.
  • Plan and execute a short-term look-ahead schedule. Use this planning method to work with the Operations Leader to coordinate resources to ensure project success.
  • Manage the team on the construction site and supervise all on-site activities pertaining to our work. This includes coordination with Company's second-tier subcontractors and other trades as needed.
  • Maintain positive interaction with project managers and clients.
  • Maintain project budgets by planning for optimum crew performance and managing materials and equipment. Understand and plan labor productions to meet and/or beat project budgets.
  • Understand completely all project documents such as contracts, specifications, drawings, and any changes to the construction design throughout the project lifecycle. Identify and communicate all work outside of the project scope with Company Project Manager and Client Superintendent. Create and distribute accurate T&M tickets timely.
  • Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process and plan the concrete placement accordingly to produce a quality product.
  • Perform quality checks on all form systems, ground, anchor bolts, reinforcing, slopes, block outs, and other trade penetrations before every concrete pour.
  • Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed.
  • Maintain constant communication with the Operations Leader to update on any schedule changes or project readiness.
  • Communicate with the Client any items on the project that are not ready and would alter or delay any work being performed by Coloscapes Concrete.
  • Look at concrete batch tickets to ensure the correct mix is being utilized for its submitted process.
  • Communicate with the Operations Leader any general items or materials needing to be delivered to the job site.
  • Complete daily reports to include time spent on the job (employee timecards), weather conditions, sub-contractors working for Coloscapes Concrete, and general daily description that includes activities performed, delays incurred, and changes directed by the Client in the field.
  • Liaises with government and private inspectors and ensures all work is to code and specifications.
  • Be the #1 resource for project-specific information.
  • Order and schedule concrete deliveries to the project after the overall schedule is approved and checked by the Operations Leader.
  • Order and schedule reinforcing steel delivery. Ensure reinforcing steel is ordered with sufficient lead time so as not to affect production and installation.
  • Ensure all reinforcing steel is installed per plans, specs, and shop drawings.
  • Ensure all scope-specific steel embeds (which are provided by others) are on site timely. Additionally, ensure installations are per plans, specs, and shop drawings.
  • Complete any project-specific field paperwork as required by clients.
