Job summary

EmployBridge is seeking a Superintendent I in Wisconsin to lead on-site field operations, supervise labor crews, and ensure work is safe, efficient, and on schedule. You will collaborate with the Project Manager, organize site logistics, and manage costs while maintaining quality standards.

The role requires strong leadership, organizational and time-management skills, and excellent communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. Travel to project sites is anticipated as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of construction experience.
• Experience supervising construction crews and coordinating field operations.
• OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications preferred.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician and Flatwork Finisher certifications are a plus.

Job description

The Superintendent I is responsible for managing field operations for assigned projects to ensure they are completed safely, efficiently, profitably, and on schedule while meeting established quality standards. This position directly supervises the field labor force, including laborers and craft workers.

The Superintendent I must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, decision-making, and time-management skills, along with effective communication and client-service abilities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Safety

• Promote the company’s “Safety First” culture.
• Implement and manage project safety requirements in accordance with the company’s Safety Program.
• Participate in the response to all incidents and accidents, including accompanying employees to the designated occupational medical facility when required.
• Collaborate with the Safety Coordinator to maintain a safe workplace.
• Enforce Site-Specific Safety Plans and company safety rules for employees, other crews, subcontractors, and all trades working on the project site.

Project Operations

• Become familiar with and follow the Concrete Staff Organization document when managing projects.
• Follow the project information and procedures documented in “The Greenbook.”
• Report project labor hours and production quantities accurately and on time.
• Participate in the job turnover process with the leadership team.
• Provide direct, day-to-day supervision of the on-site field labor force.
• Coordinate site testing and inspection activities.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
• Develop and maintain the site logistics plan in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Monitor project costs, including labor hours, productivity, and material usage.
• Manage project schedules and ensure activities are completed on or ahead of schedule.
• Maintain and verify the accuracy of as-built drawings.
• Mobilize the project site and coordinate the setup of site utilities.
• Ensure all necessary permits are secured and required inspections are completed.
• Review cost reports to confirm they reflect accurate quantities, costs, and work-in-place.
• Review and understand Requests for Information, document applicable changes on project drawings, and assist the Project Manager with RFI coordination and resolution.
• Review submittals in coordination with the Project Manager and ensure approved requirements are properly implemented in the field.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and craft workers to meet project schedule requirements.
• Maintain accurate and current shop drawings on-site for implementation of the work.
• Complete daily project reports, concrete logs, sign-in sheets, and other required project documentation accurately and on time.
• Coach and mentor crew members to support their professional growth.
• Encourage foremen and craft workers to serve as mentors and help develop other team members.
• Coordinate the location and establishment of layout controls with the client and the Field Engineering Department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Broad knowledge and understanding of concrete construction methods, processes, and field operations.
• Proficiency with computers and mobile devices.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Field Time, and other software or technology used by the company.

Work Conditions and Hours

• Work is primarily performed on active construction sites and may involve walking over rough or uneven terrain.
• The position requires overtime as project demands dictate.

• Travel is required based on project and business needs.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
• The position frequently requires standing, kneeling, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above the shoulders, pushing, and pulling.
• Must be able to climb and safely work at heights greater than six feet.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all applicable safety requirements.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:

Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:

• Associate degree and at least two years of concrete construction experience; or
• Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of concrete construction experience.

Work Experience

• At least four years of construction experience.
• At least three years of concrete construction experience.
• Previous experience supervising construction crews and coordinating field operations is preferred.

Required Certifications

• OSHA 10 certification.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• CPR certification.
• First Aid certification.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician certification.
• ACI Concrete Flatwork Finisher and Technician certification.

$100,000-$125,000
