Job summary

Gulfshoresal in The Colony, TX is hiring a general laborer to repair streets, alleys and sidewalks with concrete under the Streets & Drainage division. You will support crews, operate power and hand tools, and maintain safety while serving the public.

Responsibilities include site prep, setting up work zones, lifting heavy loads, and responding to emergencies as needed. Teamwork and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Texas driver’s license Class C with acceptable driving record.
• Must obtain Class B CDL within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and repairs with concrete to streets, alleys, and sidewalks.
• Uses power tools and hand tools with proper safety equipment.
• Prepares site for concrete and may involve strenuous physical activity.
• Ability to work well with the public and co-workers at all times.
• Communicate effectively with the public and City employees in person, by radio, in writing, and by telephone.
• Follow the chain of command and adapt to changes and special assignments.
• Set up secure work zones using cones and barricades to ensure public safety.
• Complete tasks within time constraints using proper equipment and safety gear.
• Routinely lifts and carries up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds; outdoor work in extreme weather.
