Job summary

CalPortland in California is seeking a Quality Control Technician to assist the Quality Manager by testing and analyzing data, resolving issues at project sites, and supporting plant operations to improve efficiency.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED; ATTI and ACI Field Grade 1 certification preferred, and the ability to obtain ACI Field Grade Certification within six months. Must lift up to 75 pounds and work flexible hours; OSHA 10 and English fluency required.

Qualifications

• ATTI and ACI Field Grade 1 certification (preferred)
• Ability to obtain ACI Field Grade Certification within six months
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, occasional 100 pounds
• Must work flexible hours with varying start/stop times
• Must read/write English and communicate effectively

Responsibilities

• Perform stripping, curing, capping, and compression testing in the concrete lab.
• Report concrete cylinder strength test results per ACI standards.
• Assist plant operator with operations and efficiency improvements.
• Inspect Batch Plant, aggregate stockpiles and mix designs at the plant.
• Adjust loads with concrete admixtures as needed.
• Sample aggregates and perform Portland cement concrete tests per ASTM/AASHTO/DOT standards.
• Enter test results daily into a database and distribute reports.
• Coordinate work with internal teams (sales, operations, customer service, dispatch).
• Conduct scheduled calibrations on test equipment.
• Prepare job incident reports and analyze aggregate/strength reports.
• Work with customers and attend pre-job meetings.
