Job summary

WW Clyde in Safford, AZ is seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician to perform sampling and testing of concrete, aggregates, and asphalt, with a primary focus on concrete.

Most work is in the lab, including curing and strength testing, and there is local travel to aggregate pits, plants, and project sites to collect samples.

A high school diploma or GED is required, and candidates must obtain ACI certifications within six months of hire. Experience with ADOT standards is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Able to obtain ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I and ACI Strength Testing Technician certifications within 6 months of hire.
• Working knowledge of concrete, aggregate, and asphalt materials and industry quality standards.
• Intermediate computer skills and basic math for test calculations.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Receive, log, and cure concrete cylinders and beams per ASTM/AASHTO requirements.
• Prepare and test concrete specimens for compressive and flexural strength.
• Perform fresh concrete testing including slump, air content, and temperature.
• Test aggregate production and shipping samples for gradation, specific gravity, and moisture.
• Test asphalt samples including binder content and volumetric properties.
• Support mix design development and verification testing.
• Travel to sites to collect samples and split/reduce for testing.
• Enter data into the lab database and maintain records and sample storage.
• Calibrate, maintain, and clean lab equipment; keep the lab organized.
• Maintain a safe work environment and follow WW Clyde safety requirements.
