Job summary

Power Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support its self-perform Concrete Group in Chicago. You will assist in project management, coordination of submittals, shop drawings, cost control, reporting, and document control on the job site.

You will contribute to budgeting, estimates, and change orders while ensuring schedules and specs are followed. Travel around Chicago area is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Four year construction-related degree or equivalent combination of related experience and technical training.
• Knowledge of construction materials, costs and building methods.
• Experience with project documentation and submittals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in budgeting preliminary documents.
• Maintain knowledge of current unit costs and costs/sf.
• Distribute new or updated drawings and specifications.
• Answer bids/quotes with market competitiveness.
• Assist in performing estimates and takeoffs.
• Research drawing interpretations, problems, conflicts, interferences and errors.
• Prepare a submittal log per project schedule and specs.
• Monitor and expedite submittals per log and project requirements.
• Update contract documents with change orders and ASIs.
• Maintain tracking for concrete materials and equipment.
• Generate punch lists and attend project meetings.
• Oversee general correspondence and close-out processes.
