Job summary

Van Eaton Ready Mix Inc. seeks a Traveling Concrete Plant Batchman to batch and dispatch ready-mix concrete at various mobile plant sites across the region.

This role requires operating computerized batching systems, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring safety and quality compliance, with travel to projects around Wichita, Seymour, Lubbock, Amarillo, Odessa, and Midland.

The position offers a per diem of $143 per day, guaranteed 40 hours regular and 10 overtime weekly, plus strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in ready-mix concrete production or similar manufacturing.
• Knowledge of concrete mix designs, batching procedures, and quality control practices.
• Basic computer skills and ability to operate automated batching systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate computerized mobile concrete batching equipment to produce ready-mix concrete per designs.
• Monitor production for consistency, quality and accuracy.
• Schedule and coordinate concrete loads for timely delivery.
• Communicate with drivers, dispatchers, customers and plant personnel regarding production and delivery needs.
• Inspect batching equipment and plant operations daily.
• Monitor raw material inventory levels, including cement, aggregates, admixtures, and water.
• Maintain production records and batch reports.
• Troubleshoot batching and production issues to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Assist with housekeeping and maintenance.
• Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs.

Job description

The Traveling Concrete Plant Batchman is responsible for accurately batching and dispatching ready-mix concrete according to customer specifications, company quality standards, and production schedules. This position operates computerized batching systems, monitors inventory levels, coordinates deliveries, and ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This is a required travel position in which the position will be located where the mobile concrete plant project is located.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate computerized mobile concrete batching equipment to produce ready-mix concrete according to mix designs and customer requirements.
• Monitor production processes to ensure consistency, quality, and accuracy of concrete mixtures.
• Schedule and coordinate concrete loads for timely delivery to customers and job sites.
• Communicate with drivers, dispatchers, customers, and plant personnel regarding production and delivery needs.
• Conduct daily inspections of batching equipment and plant operations.
• Monitor raw material inventory levels, including cement, aggregates, admixtures, and water.
• Maintain accurate production records, delivery tickets, and batch reports.
• Troubleshoot mobile concrete batching and production issues to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with quality control standards and specifications.
• Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and OSHA requirements.
• Assist with plant housekeeping and maintenance activities as needed.
• Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with maintenance personnel.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in ready-mix concrete production, construction materials, or manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of concrete mix designs, batching procedures, and quality control practices preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to operate automated batching systems.
• Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Understanding of concrete manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and operational procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, production schedules, and technical documents.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift to 100 pounds
• Must be able to perform physical activities that required considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and handling of materials.
• Must be able to work in and outside manufacturing environment for long shifts, including weekends.
• Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and safety-minded individual.
• Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures and loud noise.
• Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
