Job summary

Queens Carbon, Inc. is seeking a motivated Concrete Materials Laboratory Technician to support the preparation, testing, and evaluation of cementitious materials, mortars, and concrete mixtures. The role involves hands-on laboratory work following ASTM procedures and data recording in Excel.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and a willingness to learn, with training available. The position offers competitive pay and growth at a company focused on low-carbon concrete technologies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
  • Comfortable performing physical, hands-on laboratory work.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Queens Carbon safety procedures and maintain a safe laboratory environment.
  • Prepare aggregates, cement, mortar, and concrete mixtures according to ASTM and internal procedures.
  • Perform aggregate quality control before batching.
  • Batch, mix, and prepare concrete and mortar specimens.
  • Cast, label, cure, organize, and track laboratory specimens.
  • Perform fresh concrete testing including slump, air content, unit weight, and temperature.
  • Perform hardened concrete testing including compressive strength and other laboratory evaluations.
  • Operate laboratory mixers, compression machines, curing equipment, and other testing instruments.
  • Record testing data accurately using laboratory notebooks and Excel.
  • Clean, maintain, and organize laboratory equipment and work areas.
  • Assist scientists and engineers with research experiments and new product development.
  • Support additional laboratory projects as needed.
