Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Greensboro, NC is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Concrete Laboratory Technician. No experience is required; paid training is provided and certification fees are paid as you learn under seasoned professionals in our concrete lab.

You will assist with sample preparation, testing, data entry, and QA/QC documentation while contributing to a clean lab and calibration activities. Lifting up to 50 pounds and some fieldwork may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided and certification fees paid.
• Obtain lab certifications for the labs per ECS Technician Certification Policy (soil and/or concrete labs).
• Strong communication and basic math skills; attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and able to follow directions under supervision.
• Basic computer proficiency including Word and Excel.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic laboratory tests on concrete and construction material samples under supervision.
• Assist with sample preparation and testing procedures.
• Compile test results, input data, and perform data processing tasks.
• Carry out concrete lab testing such as stripping, labeling, curing setup, temperature logs, and breakage of samples.
• Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment; support calibration and maintenance of equipment.
• Keep calibration records and QA/QC documentation up to date.
• Notify supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
• Assist with additional lab functions and occasional fieldwork as needed.

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Concrete Laboratory Technician to join our Greensboro team. We offer opportunities for growth in this role with additional incentives as you earn your certifications. No prior experience is needed, as you'll work under the guidance of experienced professionals to learn to safely perform a variety of tasks in our concrete laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic laboratory tests on concrete and construction material samples under supervision
• Assists with sample preparation and testing procedures
• Compiles test results, data input, data processing, and other administrative duties
• Performs concrete laboratory testing including but not limited to, with some supervision:
  • Stripping and labeling samples
  • Setting samples for curing
  • Monitoring daily temperature logs
  • Breaking of samples
• Assists in maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment
• Supports calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Maintains calibration records and documentation in accordance with QA/QC and accreditation requirements
• Notifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipment
• Assists with additional laboratory functions and occasional fieldwork as needed

Qualifications

• Obtain lab certifications applicable to the lab work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy
  • If work is performed in both soils and concrete labs, certifications are required for both laboratories
• Strong communication and basic math skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data recording
• Dependable, self-motivated, and responsible work ethic
• Ability to follow directions and work under close supervision
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times per day
