Job summary

Skillit is hiring a Commercial Carpenter in Athens, GA for concrete formwork and rough carpentry on commercial projects. You will build vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, blocking, and temporary supports, often outdoors and at elevations. Must read blueprints, measure and cut, and maintain your own basic tools.

Expect physical work, lifting up to 50 lbs, and compliance with safety protocols. OSHA-10 or equivalent preferred; drug-free environment and driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years commercial construction carpenter experience preferred, especially in concrete formwork and structural rough carpentry.
• Able to work at elevated heights, outdoors in all weather, and frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to read/interprete sketches and basic blueprints, perform site layout, measuring and cutting.
• Provide and maintain own basic hand tools (hammer, speed square, tape, chalk box, pliers, tool pouch).
• OSHA 10-hour construction card preferred (or equivalent safety training).

Responsibilities

• Build vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, blocking, and temporary structures from sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions.
• Set up and install scaffolding, shoring and other temporary supports safely and to layout requirements.
• Strip forms, clean work area, and perform site cleanup after concrete placement.
• Read drawings, plan layouts, and work with crew leads to meet pour schedules and quality standards.
