Job summary

City of Houston, Facilities Management & Development, is seeking a Light Construction worker to prepare, repair and finish hard surfaces at 6200 Wheeler St., Houston, TX 77023. The role involves physical tasks, form setting, and basic maintenance, with on-site hours Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:30 PM.

Responsibilities include pouring and finishing concrete, placing steel, operating hand tools, and reviewing work orders. Must have one year cement finishing experience and a valid Class C license.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions.
• One year of cement or concrete finishing experience.
• Must have valid Class C Driver’s license and COH driving policy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, repair, and finish hard surfaces such as concrete and masonry.
• Set and pull concrete forms.
• Cut and place steel rods on studs.
• Batch, pour, and finish concrete and other masonry projects.
• Perform basic maintenance and repairs to structures, facilities, and equipment (e.g., BBQ pits, picnic tables, trash cans).
• Use and operate various hand tools and equipment.
• Review work orders and reports.
• Perform other duties as needed.
